Five Chelmsford libraries to close

December 5, 2018 8:32 AM

Five Chelmsford libraries have been proposed for closure by Essex County Council, with others at risk. Broomfield, Writtle, Galleywood, Danbury and Stock libraries are due to close and Springfield is at risk of closure, despite only opening a few years ago and being run by volunteers.

Libraries are not just about books. They are a vital community resource.

Said Chelmsford Lib Dem Leader Stephen Robinson, "The Liberal Democrats are campaigning against yet another cut in services from Essex County Council. The range of services in our libraries should be widened and central government should properly fund local councils.
