PEDALLING commuters using Chelmsford train station will have a Dutch style bike facility to use, after a £600,000 investment. A Cycle Point is being installed at the city's station by train operator Greater Anglia, providing an extra 1,000 spaces for bicycles to be parked and stored during the day, an increase of 40 per cent.

Commented Cllr Stephen Robinson, "When the Lib Dems were in charge of Chelmsford, we invested money into cycle paths around the area, but now new paths and facilities only seem to come up as part of new housing developments.

"I hope that this provision will lead to increased security. I have had my bike stolen from the station, like many other riders. Anything which makes it safer and more secure must be welcomed."
